So if you feel the need to charge for the next update then by all means do so. I mean you’re not going to introduce a realtime animated interactive 3D gui or anything are you. I cannot imagine that the next version number can really be that much of an update. It’s also is not dear, it’s just priced right. However I don’t think $27 for a program that is so popular (I see it mentioned everywhere) and relatively simple, is particularly cheap. ![]() Super Duper is fantastic, it does just what it says on the box. The cost? I’m embarrassed and grateful to say it will also be a free update. Not only that but many free amazing plug ins have been developed and released.īut wait there’s more.version 2.5 will be released soon and it will be mindbending, it’s hard to imagine how much work has gone into it. It’s now 2006 and I have not paid a further cent for 6 years. When it was finally announce they had a rethink and even though no one would have expected it, they decided to release it as another and *final free update*. They spent some time developing the next versions. Then 1.5 came out, it was a *major* upgrade. I was promised free update up to 1.5.Īs promised 1.23 was released and provided free. I bought a copy of Zbrush 1.13 way back in 2000 it cost US$299 This is a very complex piece of software. I’ll give you an example of a company that *does* deserve a special round of generous applause by way of comparison. That is not to say that I’m unhappy to pay that amount, it’s just to say that I don’t think it deserves special congratulations. IMO $27 is not a cheap program considering what it is. The gold standard of support is not robber barons like Adobe who scam everyone any way they possibly can. Thanks, Steve: we’ll raise a glass to you, too! It’s one of the best investments Mac users can make! I also would like to contribute to an “appreciation fund.” I recommend SuperDuper every chance I get. ![]() Thank you, Dave, for offering a free upgrade. Hi Dave, SuperDuper! was the answer to a long search for a cimple reliable backup software for my mac. We’ll put it in a special “A Toast to Steve Ruddell” fund! We’ve never really thought about allowing users to send “additional funds”, as it’s not a typical request, but you’re welcome to send your “financial appreciation” through PayPal to “sales -at- shirt -dash- pocket -dot- com”. Thanks, Steve! I’m really happy that you feel that you’re getting more than your money’s worth. AND a free upgrade?! all for only $20?! that’s ripping YOU off, and while i’m like any guy who likes to get high quality stuff without paying much, i also want to treat you all like you’ve treated your customers, with respect! so, as strange as this may sound, is there some way that i can just give you all some extra $$ as a symbol of my appreciation? i must say however, that it doesn’t seem too fair to me that i should get: 1) a great backup utility 2) peace of mind from reliable data backups 3) awesome personal tech support. I’ve been using SuperDuper! for about a month now and it is great. Here’s hoping: happy users is what we’re striving for! Having said that, I’m sure there will be a lot of happy people to read this news. There are some apps that are just so useful, complaints are rarely heard about major revisions-SuperDuper is definitely one of those. To each and every person who registered, posted comments about SuperDuper!, and recommended us to their friends, family and colleagues: thank you! I’m sure you’re going to love the new version when it’s released. You took a chance on a new product, and we’re incredibly gratified by and grateful for the response to SuperDuper! It’s free because I wanted to reward registered users, both for their patience waiting for the new release, and for supporting us over the past year or so. But, we can’t do that without-well, to put it bluntly-money. We truly respect and appreciate you-our users-and work like crazy to do right by you. ![]() But, we promise one thing: we’ll always be fair. That said, not every major upgrade of SuperDuper! will be free. Here’s the deal: SuperDuper! v2.0 will be a free upgrade for registered users of v1.x. Here at Shirt Pocket World Headquarters, we’re often asked about our upgrade policy, and-specifically-exactly how much v2.0 is going to cost if you already own v1.x.
